The Kerem Tunnel is the first bicycle tunnel in Israel and was opened as a part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle route that circles Jerusalem, the capital city. The tunnel connects Nahal Refaim with Emek Motza. Its southern entrance is located in Refaim Park, below Ein Laban and its northern entrance is in Nahal Ein Kerem, about half a kilometer from the Kerem junction.

The 2.1-kilometer long tunnel was opened on Thursday by Jerusalem and the heritage minister Ze'ev Elkin as well as Mayor Moshe Lion. Avi Baleshnikov of Gihon Chairman of Gihon and a plethora of other cyclists were also in attendance.

Jerusalem's glorious past was a reason why it was an extremely popular tourist destination during the time of its glory. Elkin stated that "The Kerem Tunnel Project is an essential tool for achieving the dream to redefine the idea of transport throughout Jerusalem." "The new tunnel, which is connected to the Jerusalem Ring Path, will connect the existing cycle routes within the city, and are being constructed in its diverse areas.
